About the Venue
In 1900, The Capetillo y Servín Families began the construction of a residence that would later become Jardin Prim. Upon completion, the Capetillos were the first family to call it home in the upscale Juárez Neighborhood.
Constant ownership changes followed, and the building gradually fell into disrepair until 1970 when it was converted to multi-family homes. Over the next 20 years it was slowly abandoned due to the decreasing socio-economic profiles of its residents.
In the early 2000's, requests for major renovations (and even a demolition of practically the entire building) were submitted to Mexico City´s International Art Institute. The INBA denied these requests, arguing that the property should be preserved as a historical site. This complete restoration preserving the building was finally pursued in 2013 to create the Prim Public Project.
Prior to entering the building, guests will notice a plaque honoring the original stonework from the Hacienda de la Encarnación, a historical period of the early 1900s.
Today the building is used for exclusive events, weddings, and even intimate concerts.
